Settle3D > Queries
The Query options in Settle3D allow you to obtain analysis results at a point, along a line, or on a vertical plane. The Query results can be displayed directly on the model or graphed.
The Query options include:
Point Query
Line Query
Time Point Query
Isosurface
These are summarized below.
Point Query
A Point Query is defined by a single point in the Plan View, and represents a single vertical string in 3-dimensions.
A Point Query allows you to obtain analysis results along any vertical line through your soil profile.
A Point Query is created with the Add Query Point option.
Line Query
A Line Query is defined by a horizontal line in the Plan View, and defines a series of vertical strings in 3-dimensions. A Line Query generates the following results:
in the Plan View, the Line Query allows you to view results along the horizontal line, at any depth in your soil profile.
in the 3D View, the Line Query results are used to generate contours on a vertical plane passing through the Line Query.
A Line Query is created with the Add Query Line option.
Time Point Query
A Time Point Query is defined by a single point in the Plan View.
A Time Point allows you to determine the time required to achieve a specified settlement or degree of consolidation, at a particular location.
A Time Point Query is created with the Add Time Point option.
Isosurface
An Isosurface is a 3-dimensional surface which represents a constant value of a specified variable (e.g. settlement, stress, pore pressure).
Isosurfaces are displayed in the 3D View, and can be created with the Isosurfaces option in the Query menu.
Editing Queries
After creating queries they can be easily edited if necessary, see the following topics for information:
Graphing Queries
Point Query and Line Query results can be graphed and exported with the Graph Query option.
