The Plan View is the left hand viewing pane of the Plan/3D View, in which the geometry of the model is defined and edited.
The Plan View is a 2-dimensional view, looking vertically downwards onto a horizontal plane of your model.

Analysis Results
The Plan View is used to display analysis results (settlement, stress) in a horizontal plane at a given depth. Results can be displayed as:
contours (computed from the field point grid results)
bar graph (along a line query)
point results (point query)
