Groundwater Overview

Groundwater pore pressure modeling in Settle3D allows you to model a water table, and horizontal and vertical drainage conditions, as summarized below.

Water Table

In Settle3D version 1.0, the in-situ groundwater pore pressure can be defined using a horizontal water table at a user-defined elevation. The water table elevation can be staged (i.e. raised or lowered at different stages or times). The water table properties are defined in the Project Settings dialog, see the Groundwater Analysis topic for details.

NOTE: in future versions of the program, more generalized groundwater conditions will be allowed.

Interlayer Drainage

In the Soil Layers dialog, you can define horizontal drainage conditions at the interface between layers. See the Soil Layers topic for details.

Wick Drains

Wick (band) drain regions can be defined to accelerate consolidation, see the Add Wick Drain Region topic for details.
