The Autocompute dialog allows you to choose the Autocompute status of Point Queries, Line Queries, and the Field Point Grid.
Automatic compute can occur at two different points in the modeling process:
After adding a Point Query, Line Query or Field Point Grid
After editing any aspect of the model
To change the Autocompute settings:
Select Autocompute from the Analysis menu.
In the Autocompute dialog, use the checkboxes to select the desired settings, and select OK.
This will change the Autocompute settings for the current file only, while the file is open (i.e. Autocompute status is not saved when you close the file).
NOTE: if you wish to save the settings as program defaults, then select the Defaults button, as described below.
Autocompute after adding
The Autocompute after adding checkbox determines if analysis results are automatically computed after you initially add a Point Query, Line Query or Field Point Grid.
If you do NOT want to automatically compute after adding a Point Query, Line Query or Field Point Grid then turn OFF this checkbox in the Autocompute dialog.
If this checkbox is turned off, then you will have to use the manual compute option to view analysis results.
Autocompute after editing
The Autocompute after editing checkboxes determine if analysis results are automatically computed after you edit the model (e.g. make changes to loads, queries, material properties, etc).
If you wish to change these settings, select the desired checkboxes in the Autocompute after editing section in the Autocompute dialog.
If any of these checkboxes is turned off, then you will have to use the manual compute option to view analysis results, after editing the model.
Default Settings
If you want to make the current Autocompute settings the default settings for the program:
Select the Defaults button in the Autocompute dialog.
Select Make current settings the default, and select OK.
