Charting and Statistics

After a search has been carried out, you can easily create a histogram or scatter plot of any available data. Select the Chart View option from the toolbar or the View menu, and then select the graph type (histogram or scatter plot) and the type of data you would like to plot. Select OK and the plot will be immediately generated.

Selection of data for charting

Histogram of Poisson ratio for granite records

Scatter plot of compressive strength versus Young's modulus

Statistical Information

When a histogram plot is created, statistical information for the data is automatically calculated and displayed in the Chart View. This includes the mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum, total number of samples, and the best-fit statistical distribution (e.g. normal, lognormal, uniform, triangular, beta, exponential).

Chart Properties

To change the currently plotted data type, simply select the Chart View option again, and you can change the data type, or customize the chart display options (e.g. axis titles, colours, 3D viewing option, show or hide the best-fit distribution and statistical information, etc).
