The following is a listing of the major additions, changes and enhancements which have been made in the upgrade of RocData from version 3 to version 4.
Note: for a list of changes and bug fixes since the initial release of RocData version 4, see the RocData version 4 Update History page.
RocProp Rock Properties Database
The primary new feature of RocData version 4.0 is the inclusion of the RocProp rock properties database. RocProp runs as a standalone application independently of RocData. The main features of RocProp are:
built-in database of intact rock properties including over 900 records
properties include compressive strength, tensile strength, elastic properties, Hoek-Brown parameters, velocity parameters, and triaxial data
search database by rock type, region, country, or global coordinates (latitude, longitude and search radius)
plot histogram or scatter plots of rock properties and compute statistical information
one-click export of data and charts to Excel
user-defined database - users can add their own rock property data to create their own searchable database
Modulus Estimation Method
RocData 4.0 incorporates the latest equations for estimating rock mass modulus from the Generalized Hoek-Brown input parameters. See the Rock Mass Modulus topic for details.
Documentation
new webhelp help system - documentation has been reorganized and incorporates tutorials (in PDF and movie format) and research papers
