Automatic Liner Removal

The Automatic Liner Removal option allows you to specify whether or not liners are automatically removed from the model (i.e. un-installed) if the material on both sides of the liner is excavated.

For example, if a liner has been applied to a stage boundary, and the material on both sides of the liner has been excavated, in most cases you would want the liner to be automatically removed from the model.

This is the default setting for the Automatic Liner Removal option. When the option is ON:

However, liners in Phase2 can represent many different types of support and installation sequencing. There are situations when you would want to define a liner which crosses an excavated space. This allows you to model support such as struts, for example, as shown in the following figure. Or you may wish to define a free-standing liner which is back-filled at a later stage.

To turn OFF Automatic Liner Removal, select the Automatic Liner Removal option from the Support menu, so that the checkbox does not appear beside the menu option. If this option is turned off, then you will be able to define liners which cross an excavated space, and the liners will NOT be automatically removed.

Preferences

By default the Automatic Liner Removal option is always ON, since this is the most common use for this option. If you want Automatic Liner Removal to be OFF by default, then you can clear the corresponding checkbox in the Preferences dialog in the File menu.
