If you are a current Slide 5.0 user, here are some tips to get you started.
Phase2 versus Slide
Slide users who are not familiar with Phase2 will find the overall modeling, analysis and data interpretation features of Phase2 very similar to Slide.
Both programs are based on the Model / Compute / Interpret program module design.
The modeling of boundaries is very similar in both programs.
Many other interface, modeling and data interpretation features are similar or identical.
Slide users will be able to learn how to use Phase2 very quickly.
Phase2 Tutorials
Phase2 has a series of easy-to-follow tutorials similar to the Slide tutorial manual. These can be found on the Phase2 Tutorials page. If you are a Slide user unfamiliar with finite element analysis or Phase2, you should first go over the Quick Start Tutorial.
Finite Element Slope Stability / Importing Slide Files
Slide users will be particularly interested in the following Phase2 options:
Import / Export of Slide Files
Finite element slope stability using the Shear Strength Reduction (SSR) method
For an overview of these options, see the corresponding tutorials on the Phase2 Tutorials page.
Also see the Phase2 slope stability verification examples, which demonstrate finite element slope stability using Phase2.
Phase2 Slope Stability Verification (Part1)
Phase2 Slope Stability Verification (Part2)
Phase2 Slope Stability Verification (Part3)
Click the links to view the manuals, which are in PDF format. The corresponding example files are available in the Examples folder in your Phase2 7.0 installation folder.
Finite Element Groundwater Analysis
Phase2 7.0 has the same finite element groundwater seepage analysis capability as Slide (with the additional ability to analyze a multi-stage seepage model). See the Phase2 Groundwater Verification Manual, which uses the same models as the Slide Groundwater Verification Manual.
