Drawing Tools: Picture from File

Images can be imported into the current view with the Picture from File option. This can be used to add company logos, for example, or any bitmap image, in order to customize views for screen captures and presentations.

To import an image into the current view:

  1. Select Picture from File from the toolbar or the Add Tool sub-menu of the Tools menu.

  2. You will see an Open File dialog. The following image file formats can be imported:

  1. Choose the file type, select the file that you wish to import, and select Open.

  2. The image will be added to the view, and will initially be centered in the view.

After a Picture has been added, it can be re-sized, moved, formatted or deleted, like any other drawing tool. See the Move, Re-size, Format topic for details.

Location of Image Files

When you add an image file with Picture from File, the actual image is NOT saved with the Examine2D (.exa) file. Instead, a link to the location of the image file is saved. In order for an image file to be displayed with the Examine2D file, the image file must be located in either: 1) the original folder when you added the image OR 2) the folder containing the Examine2D file. If Examine2D does not find the image file in either of these locations (e.g. if you have re-named, moved or deleted the image file), then it will NOT appear on the screen when you open the Examine2D file.
