Examine2D > Material Properties
For an Examine2D analysis, you must specify the following material properties:
Elastic Properties
Strength Properties
Although Examine2D is primarily geared towards the analysis of excavations in rock, it can also be used for soil applications. Therefore the material properties which you enter can represent either rock mass or soil properties.
Elastic Properties
There are two options for defining the elastic properties of your material - Isotropic or Transversely Isotropic.
These can be chosen in the Project
Settings dialog, or by selecting the Elastic Properties
button in the Sidebar.
Once you have selected the elastic property type, enter the required parameters in the Sidebar.
For more information see the Elastic Properties topic.
Strength Properties
There are two options for defining the strength properties of your material - Mohr Coulomb or Generalized Hoek-Brown.
These can be chosen in the Project
Settings dialog, or by selecting the Strength Properties
button in the Sidebar.
Once you have selected the strength property type, enter the required parameters in the Sidebar.
For more information see the Strength Properties topic.
