NOTE:
The displacements calculated in Examine2D are elastic displacements only, which in reality may represent only a small fraction of the total displacement occurring at excavation boundaries. However, elastic displacements can still be a good indicator of the general trend of the overall displacements.
For Horizontal or Vertical displacements, you may plot either the absolute magnitude of the displacements, or the actual values (i.e. negative displacements will be contoured as negative values). Total displacement is always a positive value.
To view the direction of displacements, the user can toggle on Deformation Vectors in the toolbar or the Display Options dialog.
