Examine2D > Boundaries
There are two types of boundaries which can be defined in Examine2D - Excavation boundaries and a Ground Surface.
An Excavation Boundary is a closed polyline representing an underground excavation. You can define any number of excavation boundaries. In most cases an Examine2D model will have at least one excavation boundary defined.
A Ground Surface Boundary is an open polyline representing the ground surface. Only ONE Ground Surface boundary can be defined. A Ground Surface boundary is optional, and is typically used in conjunction with the Gravitational Field Stress option, for surface or near surface excavations.
Adding Boundaries
Boundaries are created using the Add Excavation and Add Ground Surface options in the Boundaries menu.
NOTE: boundaries can also be imported from a DXF file using the Import DXF option.
Editing Boundaries
Examine2D has interactive editing capabilities which make it extremely easy to modify the model boundaries. See the Edit Boundaries Overview topic for details.
