Phase2 7.0 – New Support Design Tools and Joint Network Modeling

Users of all levels can benefit from easier, faster analyses

Toronto, Canada (October 31, 2008) - Rocscience is pleased to announce the release of Phase2 7.0, an upgrade to their popular finite element stress analysis program. Phase2 7.0 is an extremely versatile 2D elasto-plastic finite element program for designing underground or surface excavations and their support systems. Phase2 7.0 can be used for rock or soil applications and includes slope stability and groundwater seepage analysis.

"With the new support design tools and joint network modeling, Phase2 7.0 is going to be a pleasant surprise for many users who have eagerly awaited these advanced modeling features”, says chief software developer Dr. Brent Corkum.

Phase2 7.0 includes an automatic joint network generator and new tools for improved support modeling, as well as increased speed and enhanced model development capabilities.

New features include:

Improved Support Modelling

  • new liner design tools for reinforced concrete liners
  • comprehensive library of steel sections for reinforced
         concrete liners
  • explicit modelling of joint-bolt interactions

Automatic Generation of Discrete Fracture Networks

  • tools for automatically generating networks of joints
that are consistent with various statistical models
  • generator enables engineers to examine ranges of
         possible failure mechanisms and behaviour,
which can occur in a rock mass

 Computational Speedup

  • incorporation of Fast Intel Solver Routines enables users
to make the most of their time by speeding up calculations
by as much as 5 times
  • can compute models with much larger degrees of freedom
         and numbers of elements

 Enhanced Model-Development Capabilities

  • can directly access Rocscience programs RocLab and
RocData to provide reasonable first estimates of input
properties of rock masses and soils
  • automated Finite Element slope stability analysis using
shear strength reduction method and the ability to
import and export limit equilibrium Slide models

Phase2 7.0 can be purchased for $3495 USD directly from Rocscience by visiting our Order page. A free two-week trial version of the complete program can also be obtained by visiting the "Downloads" section of our website.
