TORONTO, ON. (October 21, 2005) - Rocscience announces the release of their popular RocData 4.0 software.
“Version 4.0’s main new feature is the addition of RocProp – the rock properties database that can help you complete your projects faster and more efficiently by allowing you to tap into over 700 existing property records from around the world,” says Rocscience Software Developer Igor Pashutinski. “Compressive strength, tensile strength, elastic properties, Hoek-Brown parameters and velocity parameters are all included, and even allows users to create their own database of property information.”
RocProp allows users to search by rock type, region, country or global coordinates. And with one click, data and charts can be exported directly into Excel for more advanced analysis.
“We believe that firms will be more motivated to efficiently store their soil and rock properties in electronic databases once they have the tools which enable them to easily do so, and once they experience the benefits to be derived from straightforward and flexible retrieval, sharing, analysis and export of such data,” adds Rocscience Geomechanics Specialist Dr. Reginald Hammah. “Combined with the strengths of the previous version of RocData, this new release can help geotechnical engineers maximize the amount of information gleaned from data on soil and rock properties. RocData 4.0 provides advantages similar to those of relational databases. It allows easy and rapid access to verified, reliable data.”
In addition, RocData 4.0 features several key upgrades from both versions 2.3 and 3.0, including:
 |
As with 3.0, RocData 4.0 is Windows platform compatible with
Windows 98, Me, 2000 and XP
Improved viewing and plotting options allow you to easily switch between
different views and interactive failure envelope analysis
Updated Hoek-Brown Strength Criterion as well as Barton-Bandis
criterion for curve fitting and joint strength analysis
The latest equations for estimating rock mass modulus from the
Generalized Hoek-Brown input parameters
The new Web Help system has been reorganized to include tutorials
in PDF and movie formats and research papers

RocData 4.0 sells for $695 USD (less if upgrading from RocData 2.3 or 3.0) and is available for purchase directly from Rocscience by visiting their Web site at www.rocscience.com.
