  Asheville 2009, North Carolina, June 28 - July 1

Ashveville, NC 2009 Symposium This symposium, which brings together the 43rd U.S. Rock Mechanics Symposium and the 4th U.S.-Canada Rock Mechanics Symposium, encompasses all aspects of rock mechanics, rock engineering, and geomechanics. Rocscience will present a paper, Probabilistic Slope Analysis with the Finite Element Method. We have also been invited to present a paper on numerical modeling, It is Better to be Approximately Right than Precisely Wrong: Why Simple Models Work in Mining Geomechanics. We will be at booth #4. (March 30, 2009)

  CIM 2009 & RockEng '09, Toronto, Ontario, May 10 - 13

CIM 2009 and RockEng '09 These two conferences will be held together at the Toronto Convention Centre where there will be joint exhibition. Free passes are available. CIM 2009 will feature the latest in equipment, technology, processes, and services on display at the Canadian mining industry's premier mining event. RockEng ‘09 will focus on the application of rock mechanics to the engineering of rock masses, with particular emphasis on those conditions that make the engineering design and realization difficult. Rocscience will be giving a Short Course on Two-Dimensional Finite Element Modelling of Slopes and Underground Excavations in Blocky Rock Masses. Also visit us at booth #1227. (March 20, 2009)

New Zealand / Australia Tour 2009

Rocscience made 14 sales visits in New Zealand and Australia to universities and consulting companies, gave one lecture at the University of Canterbury and presented two software workshops at Halcrow Engineering and SRK Consulting offices. See the New Zealand / Australia Tour 2009. (Mar. 20, 2009)

  IFCEE '09, Orlando, Florida, March 15 - 19

2009 International Foundation Congress & Equipment Expo (IFCEE '09) This Congress will bring together U.S. and international industry organizations, as well as members from the International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC), the Geo-Institute of ASCE, and the Pile Driving Contractors Association (PDCA). Engineers, contractors, manufacturers, service providers and researchers will discuss he latest technological advances in foundation construction and earth retention. Come by and see us at booth #405. (Nov. 25, 2008)

International Conference on Rock Joints and Jointed Rock Masses '09, Tucson, Arizona, January 4 - 10

In the civil, geological, mining and petroleum engineering disciplines, engineers face problems associated with geotechnical systems that are in or on jointed rock. Design and construction of a wide variety of geotechnical structures requires a sound knowledge of rock mass mechanical, hydraulic and thermal behaviors. The participants at this conference will share their novel ideas, new developments, technologies, state-of-the-art practices and experiences. Dr. Reginald Hammah will present a paper, Numerical Modelling of Slope Uncertainty Due to Rock Mass Jointing. (Oct. 20, 2008)

  India / Nepal Tour 2008

Rocscience took the opportunity while attending the 12th IACMAG Conference in Goa, India to expend our visit to this important part of the world to visit some of our customers and to give a 2-day software workshop to the engineering at the National Hydropower Corporation at their office outside of New Delhi. See a summary of the India / Nepal Tour 2008. (Oct. 15, 2008)

  12th IACMAG Conference, Goa, India, October 1 - 6

International Association for Computer Methods & Advances in Geomechanics (IACMAG) The theme of this conference, Geomechanics in the Emerging Social & Technological Age, will address recent developments in computer methods, constitutive models and applications to different areas of geomechanics, with the presentation of documented case studies with integration theory, laboratory and field tests, and validation procedures. Dr. J.H. Curran will present a paper, Application of Cosserat Continuum Approach in the Finite Element Shear Strength Reduction Analysis of Jointed Rock Slopes. (Sept. 15, 2008)

GeoEdmonton 2008, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, September 21-24

61st Canadian Geotechnical Conference & 9th Joint CGS/IAH Groundwater Specialty Conference Canada’s premier geotechnical and groundwater conference, the theme, A Heritage of Innovation, reflects the tradition of providing a forum for presentation and discussion of research developments and advancements in geotechnical engineering and hydrogeology. Rocscience will present a paper, Consolidation in multi-layered soils: a hybrid computation scheme. Be sure to visit us at booth #31. (Sept. 8, 2008)

Case Histories in Geotechnical Engineering, Arlington, VA, August 11 - 16

6th International Conference on Case Histories in Geotechnical Engineering and Symposium in Honor of Professor James K. Mitchell. There will be participation of professionals from at least 30 countries who will present their recent research findings on a number of themes including failure of shallow and deep foundations, slopes, dams, embankments and landfills, failure of retaining structures, slurry walls and deep excavations. Visit us at our booth #7. (May 23, 2008)
